Tong Wang 王彤



         
In his artistic pursuits, Tong Wang has brought about a contemporary subject with an enigmatic sense. His insights in the contemporary subject bestowed an enigmatic color on his artworks. His painting reflected recognition of present and ancient enigmas and a certain intriguing sense which needs no exploitation. His works created a bridge between people and culture and fostered the capacity to comprehend different opinions, rather than intensified or recreated divergence. His painting art blended global and local visuals into an indivisible whole and created substitutes for invisible images in the information society. 

在他的艺术探索中,王彤赋予了当代主题一种神秘的意味。他对当代主题的洞察力为其作品增添了神秘的色彩。他的绘画体现了对当下与古老谜团的认知,也蕴含着一种无需刻意阐释的深邃意味。他的作品在人与文化之间架起了一座桥梁,培养了理解不同观点的能力,而非加剧或重现分歧。他的绘画艺术将全球与本土的视觉语言融合为不可分割的整体,并在信息社会中为那些不可见的图像创造了新的替代形式。

For a long time, Tong Wang has embarked on a highly personalized path of art creation. With his unique cultural insights and special techniques, he deduces the mental images of the subjects and presents distinctive personal visual images. He excels in presenting a Chinese-type freehand unique style with lines similar to those in abstract expressionism and separating and combing methods. Moreover, he is adept at applying accidental blank space and the contrast between black and white and colors to convey the flavor and intellect of Chinese artistic spirits, a miraculously transformed space. The so-called contemporary conversion of the traditional cultural spirits has not only originated from his interest in and acute perception of the external world, but also depended upon his boundless infatuation with and strong passion for the cultural spirits of the nation and aesthetic legacy. 

长期以来,王彤一直走在一条高度个性化的艺术创作道路上。他以独特的文化眼光和特殊的技法演绎出主体的心象,呈现出鲜明的个人视觉图像。他擅长运用类似抽象表现主义的线条与分置重组的方式,表现出一种中国式写意的独特风格。同时,他善于运用偶然形成的空白,以及黑白与色彩之间的对比,传达出中国艺术精神中的韵味与智慧,营造出一种奇妙转化的空间。

所谓传统文化精神的当代表达,不仅源自他对外部世界的敏锐观察与兴趣,更依托于他对民族文化精神与审美传统的无限眷恋与热烈情怀。

Tong Wang insists on the return to “naivety” in art, whereas the so-called “perpetuality” which has arisen out of reality cannot withstand the test of time. Thus, the painter bids farewell to “perpetuality” and opted for “instantaneity”, as “instantaneity” is based on “feelings”; “feelings” cannot be detached from “naivety”; moreover, only artistic feelings originating from “naivety” have authentic artistic quality; this is a thorough fictionalization of reality and acknowledgment of self feelings. 

王彤坚持艺术应回归“天真”,而现实中所谓的“永恒性”其实经不起时间的考验。因此,画家告别了“永恒”,转而选择了“瞬间”,因为“瞬间”植根于“感受”;“感受”又离不开“天真”;并且,只有源于“天真”的艺术感受,才具备真正的艺术品质。这是一种对现实的彻底虚构,同时也是对自我感受的真实确认。

The dreams of the artist are his life. To pursue dreams are to appreciate life. Tong Wang’s paintings have such a sense. At first glimpse, you may feel the simplicity and freedom in his methods of representation. However, almost at the same time, you’ll be overwhelmed with heavy feelings, compelling you to recognize the complexity behind the simplicity and the hardship behind the ease. Tong Wang is writing his heart with his paintings. 

艺术家的梦想就是他的生命,追寻梦想也就是热爱生活。王彤的绘画正具有这样的意味。乍一看,你可能会感受到他表达方式中的简洁与自由;但几乎在同一时间,一种沉重的情感便会袭来,让你不得不意识到那份简洁背后的复杂,以及那份轻松背后的艰辛。王彤正是在用绘画书写他的内心。
